aspiring guitarist

After helping us build our band’s practice room it was only fair that we invited Jan for our first “impromptu” session. I had my camera with me, besides my guitar, and I snapped this photo. It’s a bit old, but I just found it and I like it…

a signature…

A signature can mean a lot to people… it can be something as simple as an autograph from a favorite band… it can be a signature from a client that a project is finished… it can be a signature on the marriage certificate list… But a lot of times, a signature brings happiness ;-).

As was the case with the signature that encouraged this post — a project was finished, or rather, the customer signed the acceptance list. So congrats to those from my team involved in the project (I can’t go into specifics but hey, it’s the thought that counts).

The picture is from a colleague’s son’s wedding.

Neža - part II

I promised more photos from Neža’s session. Aside from the promised portraits I’ve also found some more pics I like with, the classic ballet poses.

Now, as for the portraits, I tried using counter-light a little bit, but apart from that, I just wanted to experiment a little bit with two flashes.

I’ve also played around in Photoshop a little bit and came up with this:Neza

What do you guys and girls think? I’d really like to hear comments, specially for the last series of pictures — is it too much? :-)

Neža

I had this idea in my head for a long time… It involved a tutu, and an abandoned building with large windows. I’ve been inside Tovarna Rog once, and I wanted it to be my location. However, to shoot inside, usually, you need permission from the municipality. And I must say that the people I dealt with (Kristina Novak, and Jerneja Batič) were extremely helpful and friendly. Anyway, once I got the permissions, I wanted to get a little bit of extra help… this involved one borrowed SB-800 (tnx Jan), one make-up artist (tnx Anja), a reflector (tnx Samo), an assistant (tnx Urša) and a ballerina (tnx Neža :-)).

So, here are the photos… I did two separate series, and I’ll post the other one later this week.

Comments are greatly appreciated.

Afterlight

Most of you probably saw it, and I hope those of you with better views than mine also took a picture. But the light was amazing. Orangy-blue, warm and mysterious…. Very nice… A quick snapshot:

Urška

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine invited me to “help out” with a session with his friend, Urška. It was more of an improv session, so no special ideas from my side. I did howewer get to play with a reflector screen (thanks Samo). So my obvious choice were a few of to the sun shots.

I divided them into two series, a bit more “urban” trying to go with the effect I like the most, which is a little extreme saturation and black increase, and the sun shots :).

I LIKE THE SUN, I NEED THE SUN.

But untill then, another SB-800/600 will do just fine =).

All in all, it was a really fun experience, and I’d love to repeat it one day, with a bit more ideas in mind, now that I know the model ;-).

rain, rain, rain

There’s NOTHING to do.

I want to take pictures, but I need/want THE SUN.

Anyway, I dug up something from the archive. Something from a concert - Faraoni. I really like the picture… And it was taken in the rain, so that’s why I decided to post it again :).

submit-faraoni

I’ll post at least one more post of the latest photo-shoot which I still haven’t had time to up to now. Expect it somewhere in the first half of the upcoming week.

All I need in the next week is ONE day of sunshine to help realize my idea of a shoot. I have everything else, I have the models, I have the location, I have the outfit, I have the make-up… But i need “t3h light”. And yes, I spelled it correctly.

why I chose to remove two photos

Following up to my post from Šentvid’s Krst 2007, I’ve decided to remove two images. Please note that I was not forced to remove them, but I was asked if I could consider removing them.

Where is the problem? Why censorship?
Well you see, the pictures that are problematic, depict a girl carrying a weapon in a school. This girl is not associated with the show (even though the show was of an “army squad” there were no guns, plastic or other kind allowed!!!!), worse even, she appears to be first year. For obvious reasons, I am STRONGLY OPPOSED to any violence in schools, and I think that with people getting killed or beaten outside of clubs, shootings in schools and anywhere else for that matter, are the last thing we need. Therefore, I would lke to apologize for not noticing immediately, and making this decision sooner.

In trying to rectify the situation, I hope that the people whos job it is to find out who and why had the gun, will discover that it was all a joke. And when they do, I will be the first to pos that explanation here. But until then, why can’t we just bloody get along?

Anyway, I hope you guys won’t mind the censorship. Or will you?

pool time

There are only two sports I like, Squash and Pool. And today was pool time with Jan, Petra and Urša. But, obviously, my camera went with me :) (to the dismay of many :D ).

Nothing special, just some fun :).

Tomorrow, I’m off to Zagreb! Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post something from there.

Sečovlje salina

So, after having updated my theme (something new) I decided to post some pictures from earylier in my photographic career (er… 4 months ago - but nevertheless, something old).

So, a bit of explaining. I liked my previous theme, but there was something missing (for me). So, after having looked all over the net for a nice looking theme with everythin I wanted, I just couldn’t. I did however find a good theme, The morning after. So I hacked together my existing theme, and The Morning after. I even used the same lead image for my banner - but I’ll be replacing this somewhere this week I hope. As soon as I find an image that is suitable… It was a long time since I’ve done CSS, PHP coding and it felt goooooood =). Anyway, now I’m happy with how my blog looks. What do you think about it?

Now, after having something new, I thought why not post something old. So I dug up something from my archive. Jan and I went to Sečovlje Salina a couple months ago. I was just starting to get more up close nad personal with digital photography then. This was when I bought my D80. Most are without tweaks, except the “film-like” one. Lightroom’s aged photo preset with a couple of exposure & black clipping modifications + Photoshop for the frame and comibination of the photos.
