Manca

After a while of not posting again, here are some shots I took with a photographer friend of mine, Manca :-). We made them a while ago, but I haven’t really had time to post them yet. It was purely some fun with a wide angle lens. Nothing really special :-). Two flashes, and a wide angle lens, some post-processing, and a fun day!

Katja @ BTC

I needed to get out and take a couple of photos. I called up Katja, and we looked for a spot. I found one in the most unlikely places of all, BTC.

The shoot was more fun than anything else, so we just winged it. I did however find a really good location for my next shoot. And I hope I’ll get a chance to use it.

Neža - part II

I promised more photos from Neža’s session. Aside from the promised portraits I’ve also found some more pics I like with, the classic ballet poses.

Now, as for the portraits, I tried using counter-light a little bit, but apart from that, I just wanted to experiment a little bit with two flashes.

I’ve also played around in Photoshop a little bit and came up with this:Neza

What do you guys and girls think? I’d really like to hear comments, specially for the last series of pictures — is it too much? :-)

Neža

I had this idea in my head for a long time… It involved a tutu, and an abandoned building with large windows. I’ve been inside Tovarna Rog once, and I wanted it to be my location. However, to shoot inside, usually, you need permission from the municipality. And I must say that the people I dealt with (Kristina Novak, and Jerneja Batič) were extremely helpful and friendly. Anyway, once I got the permissions, I wanted to get a little bit of extra help… this involved one borrowed SB-800 (tnx Jan), one make-up artist (tnx Anja), a reflector (tnx Samo), an assistant (tnx Urša) and a ballerina (tnx Neža :-)).

So, here are the photos… I did two separate series, and I’ll post the other one later this week.

Comments are greatly appreciated.

Urška

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine invited me to “help out” with a session with his friend, Urška. It was more of an improv session, so no special ideas from my side. I did howewer get to play with a reflector screen (thanks Samo). So my obvious choice were a few of to the sun shots.

I divided them into two series, a bit more “urban” trying to go with the effect I like the most, which is a little extreme saturation and black increase, and the sun shots :).

I LIKE THE SUN, I NEED THE SUN.

But untill then, another SB-800/600 will do just fine =).

All in all, it was a really fun experience, and I’d love to repeat it one day, with a bit more ideas in mind, now that I know the model ;-).

Jessica in full color

As promised yesterday, here’s Jessica. This time in color.

For the next one, I’d really appriciate some advice, in particular, how about this effect:

To me, this one captures the feeling better, but I’m not sure. Any thoughts?

Jessica - BW

When the cat is away, the mouses1 are playing.

So, as you may know, thanks to Outlook being my RSS reader, I managed to spot a post from Peter where he’s looking for an assistant. So I decided to give it a shot, after all, I’m very curious as to how people who’ve done it before do it =).

It’s nothing special really, just holding a reflector, but obviously I had my Nikon around my neck as much as I could. And when Peter went out to get something to drink, I “hijacked” his borrowed Canon 1Ds MkII & Jessica and took some shots.

The style of shots is different, I think, than what Peter did.

So I don’t need to ask myself if I should go with BW or color, I’ve chosen to go with both, but in two different posts. So, tomorrow I’ll post the colored ones. Comments are welcomed!

1) Good god man, obviously I mean mice, but for some reason the word just wanted out =), so I wrote it.

Jessica with Peter Bernik - teaser

As you know, today I was an asistant for Peter Bernik. Since my best friend is waiting in his car (pool time!) this is just a teaser… =)

I’ll post more. I promise.

Katja

This is a post of some pictures from a long, long time ago — the second week when I got my Nikon D80 and the first day I got my 50 mm F/1.8 :-)

Petra, part II

So, as you might recall from my previous post I had some time to kill and Petra and I went to see Jan at his workplace - The Jože Pučnik Airport. Damn, that’s a bad name, I’ll stop it now… we went to Brnik. I wanted to test flash & sunset with fast shutter synchronization. Needless to say, it didn’t work the way I wanted it to, but on the other hand I’m not sure what I wanted :). I thing a reflector screen would be better. More natural light…

Petra-2-1

The picture to me, looks fake. The lightning on Petra is too perfect, IMHO. Well, will have to try one with a reflector screen. Spanking of which, anyone have any good recommendations for it?

Anyway, these pictures were taken in the near by corn field :), I just wanted a series titled “Na koruzi s Petro” :).

Petra-1 Petra-3

I’m really bothered by the overlay on the first image over Petra’s mouth. Will have to do better next time I gather.
