happy december

And so it starts…. the December. And it started with my company’s new year party. Just two pictures, to show how it’s been. I’ll post more in the upcoming days :-).

Yes, we had Soul Fingers playing, and we had dancers on the bar :-). We also had 450 guests and a lot of food & drinks. It’s been fun, I’ll say that.

rain, rain, rain

There’s NOTHING to do.

I want to take pictures, but I need/want THE SUN.

Anyway, I dug up something from the archive. Something from a concert - Faraoni. I really like the picture… And it was taken in the rain, so that’s why I decided to post it again :).

I’ll post at least one more post of the latest photo-shoot which I still haven’t had time to up to now. Expect it somewhere in the first half of the upcoming week.

All I need in the next week is ONE day of sunshine to help realize my idea of a shoot. I have everything else, I have the models, I have the location, I have the outfit, I have the make-up… But i need “t3h light”. And yes, I spelled it correctly.

Severina, Ljubljana - Križanke

So, after getting some sleep, going to work, and driving home for 1 hour due to the traffic jams around Ljubljana I finally started writing my “report” from yesterday’s concert. My Delo report is available here. By tomorrow I also hope to give another reference but I’ll see what happenes there.

I went to this concert with very low expectations. I admit, I’m not a fan of Severina. I know her from more than just her “home movie” but I’ve never liked listening to this type of music too much. This was topped with complications with acreditation getting lost in the mail (I recieved an empty envelope!!).

I decided early on that I will try and do as much as possible with my 50 mm f/1.8 lens. And I did. Obviously, I did use my 18-200 for a vfew closeups and a wide shot of the public from the balcony.

Anyway, Severina, along with her guests, performed for alkmost 2 hours and a half, and the show was amazing. Maybe I wasn’t as impressed with music as I was with the performance aspect of the concert. This includes the durations, lighting, coreography, guests, spots in between bunches of songs etc.

As for the pictures… I’m actually quite happy as I mentioned in my previous post. I hope that those of you reading my blog are happy with them as well, and as usual I would appriciate any critique.

What I did notice however, is that I like the portait orientation when shooting solo artists. Do you think this is good or bad?

Severina - teaser

I’m still excited about the events that took place during the concert :) (more about this tomorrow). I must admit that the concert surprised me in a positive way as far as perfomance goes but not so positively about organization (we had 30 seconds to take pics of Luka Nižetić and Klapa Nostalgija). But it’s a challange. Anyway, because I really, really, need some sleep right now, here’s a teaser of what I’ll be posting tomorrow.

Severina-4

I’m really satisfied with the pictures I’ve took, and I think it has something to do with me using my 50 mm F/1.8 most of the time… Well, I’ll wait until comments tomorrow and decide if the pictures are really any good. I think the above one is the only one I took with 18-200.

Have fun ;-).

Zucchero - Koper - part II

I guess there’s a lot of “part II” posts on my blog this two weeks =). I hope you don’t mind… it’s just that I’m sick and I have a little more spare time right now. So, as I’ve already promised in my previous post, i’m posting more pictures from Zucchero’s concert in Koper’s Bonifika. Other bloggers who were in Koper and posted their pictures are Miro (Foto Rocker) and Primož.

I am however, having trouble deciding if I should stick with the color picture or go with the BW. Suggestions?

Zucchero-2 Zucchero-3

My report for Delo is at their website.

Zucchero

Just a quick intermezzo post, from yesterday’s excellent concert - Zucchero. I have more, and I’ll post them as soon as I finish studying for my exams and finish my watermarking tool :-). Because I really don’t like the color losses right now. I still have to post pictures from Ritem mladosti and from a quick, test session with a friend. Tomorrow & the day after, I promise.

Jan Plestenjak

On thursday, I was at Jan Plestenjak’s concert in Križanke. The full report is here. He performed with the symphonic orchestra. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised over the quality of the music and the sound of the orchestra. Compared to some other bands, who played with the orchestra, it could actually be heard.

Zbiljska noč (Zbilje night?)

I’m not sure how to translate it properly, but ok. It was a night at the Zbilje lake, with a concert =). The band I really wanted to see were Pop Design. I like their style of music, it reminds me of 80’s rock, as that’s exactly what it is. Although Jan Plestenjak wasn’t half bad. Anyway, the lighthning wasn’t bad, and the ambience was amazing, particulary the involvement of the audience. There were about 20 000 people according to the organizers. They sang through most of the songs from both of the above mentioned bands (and some songs from Saška Lendero).

During the performance of Pop Design the band really got “live”. First the bassist (Tone Košmrlj), jumed off the stage and gave out flyers to the crowd. Then the vocalist (Miran Rudan) sang with the audience and gave the microhone to the crows. All in all, it was a fun night.

Ok, maybe a bit a lot of the pictures, but I really like them so I decided to show them. The last two are interesting as they were taken hand held, on ISO 800, 1/10 and F/7.
