Scorpions @ Berlin O2 arena, 29.5.2010

The adrenalin is still flowing, the show was amazing, the energy extreme. The Scorpions played the Berlin O2 arena and I got the change to cover the event for Delo. Scorpions, for those of you who don’t know them, are a German heavy-metal/hard-rock band with first commercial success reaching to the 80s. Check out the Read more link below.

Coldplay @ Udine, 31.8.2009

Another trip to Udine – this time to see alternative rockers Coldplay (article at Delo.si). To be honest, I expected a lot from the guys. Being a world famous band that existed for a while now, I thought they’ll make a good show – a spectacle in a sense. Well, I was disappointed.

U2 @ Zagreb, 10.8.2009

The much anticipated, twice sold-out show (two dates were announced for Zagreb due to overwhelming interest) – over 120.000 tickets sold, is over. A bitter sweet experience for me personally (unfortunately), but besides that, an awesome spectacle. In my opinion though, not so much of a performance. Definitely nothing like Bruce Springsteen’s show in Udine. Hit the read link for more pictures.

Bruce Springsteen @ Udine, 23.7.2009

A Croatian reporter wrote that if there is a god, his name is Bruce. There were signs in the audience, saying: “Bruce almighty”. And I agree. Bruce & The E-street band rocked Udine’s stage at Stadio Friuli.

Manca

After a while of not posting again, here are some shots I took with a photographer friend of mine, Manca :-). We made them a while ago, but I haven’t really had time to post them yet. It was purely some fun with a wide angle lens. Nothing really special :-). Two flashes, and a wide angle lens, some post-processing, and a fun day!

How many photographers does it take…

… to make an interesting picture :-). Well, as it turns out, 4 is a good approximation. After a whole night of Company Party (AGB Lab’s annual New Year’s party) our photography group decided to meet at 7 AM in Sečovlje Soline. I was up all night, so I didn’t have a lot of energy to try all the stuff I wanted to, and the weather wasn’t all we wanted it to be.

Laibach in Koper, 18.10.2008

After a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong wait, I finally had some time to photograph a concert. It’s been a while, and I forgot what I was like. I enjoy that… :-) I have to do it more often. But I’ve been really busy, even though I’ve quit my job (I am looking for a new one – but am very relaxed about it) – I’ve been recording with my band, doing stuff here and there, learning to play the piano, getting a bass guitar, started modeling my own studio (a small, yet cosy room :) ), etc. So yeah, it’s been fun. Anyway, I hope I’ll be visiting a few good, upcoming concerts and take some photos. If nothing else, I’ll probably have a studio picture or two to post (hopefully). Right, until then, Laibach. Most of you know who they are. I’ve already shot them once before. The concert was pretty good, the show routine, but interesting. The lights were, in my opinion better than usual.

Snoop Dogg in Zagreb, 8.9.2008

After what can only be dubbed an organizational fiasco, we somehow managed to get beneath the stage where one of Rap’s greatest icons was due to perform. Snoop Dogg himself. I’m not much of a rap fan myself but I must admit I kind of liked the ambience he created – being high or not.

R.E.M @ Udine, Italy, 24.7.2008

On Thursday, a bit late in the day, I got news that I have received a photo pass for R.E.M. that evening in Udine, Italy. Well, technically, in Vila Manin. I covered the event for Delo.si here.

The drive to Udine was fast (I did have good company :-) ), but parking… Holly crap. We parked a kilometer away. And we could easily have driven closer to the venue. But we were told by the organizers that there are 10.000 people expected, so we decided to park where the masses parked :-). Next time, I don’t plan on making that mistake.

Mark Knopfler at Zagreb, 9.6.2008

Wow. It happened. I took pictures at Mark Knopfler’s concert in Zagreb. The show was fantastic. The ambience was great, and the crowd was in my opinion excellent. It seems that Guy Fletcher agrees with this ;-). Interesting though as the concert was, nothing could ever top the meet & greet I witnessed from Mark and the band (including the awesome performance from Matt and Guy on the stylophones :-) ).

The only thing horribly wrong with the whole picture was the appalling odor of the dressing rooms…

As far as photographing goes, the lights were very good, but Mark is more or less still on the stage anyway. The crowd was sitting down, which is always a shame as it kills the mood, not to mention it makes the photographers squat in front.  We had two songs to work our magic and then we were able to go and enjoy the show.
