Vlado Kreslin in Ljubljana’s center

Today, after a game of Squash with Jan, we decided to check out Vlado Kreslin, who played in the city center. A switch of my racquet with my Nikon, and we were off. I expected to take a shot or two from a distance. But when we got there I went to the security guards, and managed to convince them to let me in for a song.

I like a couple of other photos, but this one, to me, really stands out so I’m posting only this one.

Aside from the concert, I also took a quick, handheld picture of Čopova. ISO 800, 70 mm, F 2.8 @ 1/20s, VR on.

Prljavo Kazalište

Although I’ve posted the Magnifico concert first, I’ve actually covered Prljavo Kazalište first, but I haven’t had the chance to post it on my blog. Those of you reading e-Delo could have already read my report.

I’ve recently discovered Prljavo Kazalište and their music, and I really like it. My personal analogy was that they are a balkan reincarnation of Dire Straits :-). The lights were terrible again, with very little frontal light. There was no room beneath the stage, so we had to photograph in the crowd, which, at the sold out venue that is Cvetličarna, was a bit hard.

Magnifico: Grande Finale

Yesterday, Magnifico performed in Hala Tivoli, in Ljubljana. Magnifico really managed to shock the general public after having handed out 100.000 copies of his new CD along with Delo. Anyway, the concert was great, Magnifico and the boys really know how to throw a party :-). But, what I didn’t like was the crowd under the stage. Having all of Slovenia’s metrosexuals in a crowded space leads to confusion and loss of common sense it seems :-). Anyway, here are a few pictures.

Jan Plestenjak & "his" panties

I promised yesterday, I’d show you Jan Plestenjak photos and “his” panties. Well, there’s also a bra in there.

Bruc07_foto_Anze_Vodovnik-121

During the show, about 3 panties, and one bra came flying on stage. Those that I’ve managed to look at, had something written on it, mostly things like “come with us” but in a much more perverted way :-). I just don’t want my blog to get rated PG-13 or worse :-D, so I won’t repeat them, lol.

Anyways, as far as the concert goes, since I photographed Jan so many times before (mostly because of someone’s obsession with Jan’s back-vocalist), I took it real easy this time. I went for the whole BW thing… I like it.

Bruc 07

After a fairly hectic week I finally have some time to post a couple of pics from bruc 07.

The whole thing was divided onto three stages, but I avoided the dance/techno one for trying to avoid an ever larger headache than I already had. On two other stages, we were able to see the performances of Superlizo, Intimn Frizurn, Zmelkoow, Klemen Klemen, Leeloojamais, Big Foot Mama, Mosaic, McLaren, Rock Partyzani, Tide, The Beet Fleet and Jan Plestenjak. I’ve seen most of them before, for example McLaren (I was pretty impressed the last time I heard them), Tide (Iron Maiden concert, but no photos), Jan Plestenjak (1,2,3), Big foot Mama, Klemen Klemen and Leeloojamais.

The only thing I was really unimpressed with, were Leloojamais. I’m sorry, the new singer just doesn’t do it for me. She doesn’t have a good voice, and that’s that. It doesn’t fit the music… I’m sorry, but that’s how I think. I’m sure Mih@, who was also there, would disagree though ;-). But that’s cool, as long as you can argument everything reasonably (i.e. our Mac & Vista/Windows debate, right Miha?).

Anyway, a couple of pictures. :-)

Tomorrow, I’m posting Jan Plestenjak and “his” panties so stay tuned.

Riblja čorba, Gospodarsko razstavišče

After some years, Riblja čorba arrived in Ljubljana. As you may know Bora, the lead singer, said a few words about Slovenia when we were breaking off from Yugoslavia and a lot of people still hold that against the band. Still, over 2000 people made one hell of an ambient! So much so, that the band returned twice, and Bora limped on stage with his broken foot. Respect! Here’s what I wrote for Delo.si.

Muse in zagreb: ambience

I remembered yesterday that I tried to capture the feeling of the concert I was at. I used my Nokia E65 so it’s not HD, but I know you won’t mind ;-).

Video: Muse, Zagreb

By the way, you can also check out my report from the concert for Delo.si.

Still to come today: I just bought the new Mark Knopfler album, Kill to get Crimson, and am listening to it. I’ll post a review of this and Nightwish’s Dark Passion Play through the week.

Spanking of which, Nightwish are coming to town next year, 4.3.2008, and Knopfler just might ;-). For now, he’s officially booked for Zagreb, so let us hope…

Muse, Zagreb

Woooooohoooo, the Adrenaline is still here, after one whole day =). Maybe the drivers in Zagreb had something to do with it, but I’m guessing that the majority of the blame is on the band called Muse.

If you don’t know them, this right here, is IMHO a really cool performance.

Anyway, on tuesday (9.10.2007) Muse were in Zagreb, and the day before, they were in Beograd (Gušti was there and as written here, also impressed).

The show was, in my opinion, outstanding. The performance the whole band gave was great. The energy fantastic. The music (and sound quality), über good. As promised on Gušti’s blog, I tried to capture the ambience and the energy…

One more thing, thank you Antonio, for lending me your 70-105 2.8, it proved to be priceless!

And tonight, we can truly say, together we’re invincible…

Severina, Ljubljana - Križanke

So, after getting some sleep, going to work, and driving home for 1 hour due to the traffic jams around Ljubljana I finally started writing my “report” from yesterday’s concert. My Delo report is available here. By tomorrow I also hope to give another reference but I’ll see what happenes there.

I went to this concert with very low expectations. I admit, I’m not a fan of Severina. I know her from more than just her “home movie” but I’ve never liked listening to this type of music too much. This was topped with complications with acreditation getting lost in the mail (I recieved an empty envelope!!).

I decided early on that I will try and do as much as possible with my 50 mm f/1.8 lens. And I did. Obviously, I did use my 18-200 for a vfew closeups and a wide shot of the public from the balcony.

Anyway, Severina, along with her guests, performed for alkmost 2 hours and a half, and the show was amazing. Maybe I wasn’t as impressed with music as I was with the performance aspect of the concert. This includes the durations, lighting, coreography, guests, spots in between bunches of songs etc.

As for the pictures… I’m actually quite happy as I mentioned in my previous post. I hope that those of you reading my blog are happy with them as well, and as usual I would appriciate any critique.

What I did notice however, is that I like the portait orientation when shooting solo artists. Do you think this is good or bad?

Severina - teaser

I’m still excited about the events that took place during the concert :) (more about this tomorrow). I must admit that the concert surprised me in a positive way as far as perfomance goes but not so positively about organization (we had 30 seconds to take pics of Luka Nižetić and Klapa Nostalgija). But it’s a challange. Anyway, because I really, really, need some sleep right now, here’s a teaser of what I’ll be posting tomorrow.

Severina-4

I’m really satisfied with the pictures I’ve took, and I think it has something to do with me using my 50 mm F/1.8 most of the time… Well, I’ll wait until comments tomorrow and decide if the pictures are really any good. I think the above one is the only one I took with 18-200.

Have fun ;-).
